A new & exciting photo shoot
Ever wondered what to do with your wedding dress after your wedding day? One particular craze is called Wreck the Dress, also sometimes known as Trash the Dress.
On speaking to brides and their families I usually get one of two reactions, an “oh wow, that’s an amazing idea!” or “my mum’s just spent X amount on my dress, she would kill me!”. Every bride is like every wedding, unique and individual, some brides love the idea of walking through a muddy field to get a cracking sunset photograph, whereas others would rather stay dry inside their wedding venue, and that’s okay. Maybe if you’re the latter, this isn’t for you, or maybe, because you want something different, it is?
One of the best things about weddings is how much joy they bring to everyone involved, the bride and groom, their families, and those special wedding guests who received an invitation to the day. Couples spend months if not years planning every single detail of the day from choosing the perfect venue for them, whether that is a church, a beach, a hotel or a rustic barn (to name a few). Then of course there’s photographers to consider, videographers, bands, stationary, cars, flowers, favours, jewellery, a kilt or a suit (for grooms or groomsmen), bridesmaid dresses, and…oh yeh, a dress or dresses! Let’s be honest a wedding day revolves around the bride or brides, so of course the dress (or dresses) is going to be important! There are so many different styles to try on, colours, shapes, lengths, veil or no veil, tiara or not. It's definitely important!
So, you’ve found the perfect wedding dress, and planned the best day. Along comes the wedding day, you have the time of your life with your new husband or wife, your family and friends, you get some amazing pictures from your photographer, a beautiful wedding album, memories to last a life time. You then have your wedding dress cleaned and packed into a box, you then carefully place it in the attic…what are you going to do with it now? If you’re anything like me, maybe you think you’ll have kids and want them to play dress up with it. Or maybe you don’t plan on doing anything with it, just treasure it. Or maybe you fancy doing this…
A Wreck the Dress photo shoot can be whatever you want it to be, smoke bombs, lying in a muddy puddle, dipping your toes in a local loch or even a paint war! If you think this is your kind of thing, get in touch, I would love to capture moments of you and your partner or bridesmaids having so much fun.
Why stop the party when your wedding day finishes? Extend it to another shoot, and trust me, it will be fun, and you will have photos and memories that no one else has!
